SOMNIA-SPECIFIC QUESTIONS

1. Dreams are how Sleep chooses you. What might draw your character into Somnia— a wound, a wish, a weakness? Would they follow the dream, or run from it?

Nobara's dream is both a wish and a weakness. She is coming from a major conflict in Shibuya where her friends and mentors are all in danger. She wants to be able to help her friends. She knows that she's strong, but a lot of her classmates are stronger than she is. She secretly hopes that she's strong enough to make a difference. She doesn't want to lose anyone like she thought that she had lost Yuji earlier in the year. If asked about it, she would deny that she was worried about loosing people.

2. Somnia is a slow unraveling—of worlds, and of selves. How does your character respond to fear, transformation, and losing control? Do they fight, adapt, collapse?

Nobara would start by fighting. She's not going to let people see her weaknesses. She's fought hard for what little bit she has and she's not going to let it be ripped from her hands. But just because she fights doesn't mean that she doesn't adapt either. She's hurt herself before when dealing with curses known as Death Paintings, as some of their cursed energy was within her and she used one of her own techniques to help stop them which involved driving nails into her own arm. Fighting cursed spirits requires one to adapt quickly to what's going on around them in order to survive.

3. Connection is the only constant. What kind of bonds does your character form— fast and burning, slow and wary, deep and desperate? How might that shape their time in this world?

Nobara's connections aren't quite slow and wary or deep and desperate. More like a combination of the two. She's the kind of girl to make snap judgements upon first meeting, considering she didn't like Yuji or Megumi when they first met, yet she didn't have much of a choice to trust them. The more time she spent with her classmates and upperclassmen, their bonds deepened and she would do just about anything for them. To her, her classmates are like family to her.

4. What are two major forces in your character’s personality that are often in conflict? (Ex: logic vs emotion, power vs guilt, obedience vs rage, etc.)

Nobara is always doing what she can to be true to herself, being loud and brash and unashamed of what she has done and what she can do. However, she can't stand her own weakness. Instead of understanding that she doesn't have the power to do something like one of her classmates or a stronger sorcerer can, she has to go and prove that she's not weak and tries to redeem herself by going off and trying to do something that she shouldn't. Like she did in Shibuya, just after the point where I am pulling her from. She runs off to try and prevent her teacher from being sealed only to loose an eye and be taken out for a few months, where her friends believe her to be dead.

Powers and Abilities: - Cursed Energy Use: This is what powers the abilities of a Jujutsu Sorcerer. Nobara is able to use cursed energy to exercise curses. It is also what allows her to use her innate abilities. Cursed Energy is born from negative emotions and can be channeled to do many things.

-Black Flash: A hard to master technique that multiplies the damage done by cursed energy by 2.5. The user must hit a curse with their cursed energy 0.000001 seconds after a physical hit.

-Cursed Technique: Straw Doll: This is Nobara's innate cursed technique. She uses tools such as a hammer, nails, and a straw doll effigies to be able to channel her cursed energy. This is the overall name for her style of fighting with cursed energy and not an actual attack.

-Cursed Technique: Resonance: One of the main attacks that Nobara uses in her Straw Doll Technique. She uses a straw doll and a piece of whatever she is trying to exercise (say a body part like an arm) to create a connection with the rest of the curse. She then uses her cursed energy and drives a nail through the straw doll and whatever bit of the curse she is using for a connection to cause a lot of damage and potentially exercise the curse for good.

-Cursed Technique: Hairpin: This is a simple technique where Nobara infuses nails with her cursed energy and drives them into objects or curses with her hammer. With a snap of her fingers, the cursed energy expands, causing an explosion and causing damage to whatever it was driven into.
What Did Your Character Wish For? From the point that she is coming from, her wish would be to help her friends out.
What Potion Did They Receive? Scarlet
Did They Drink It? Yes. Nobara will be able to use the element of fire. At first she won't quite understand it, but then begin to control it. It will start out small, with just embers, but grow with new regains.

Character Questions:
1. Who is the person your character is most bonded with from their canon? Or who is someone they miss the most?

Nobara has bonded the closest with her two classmates, Yuji Itadori and Megumi Fushiguro. They’re all around the same age and they are in the same class. Both Nobara and Yuji are from the countryside and are getting used to things in a big city. When she first met them, Nobara didn’t think too highly of Yuji and Megumi. As they worked together more on different missions, she grew to trust them and understand their skills. When Yuji apparently died during a mission she said that she wasn’t going to shed a tear for someone that she hardly knew, but as she told Megumi that, she was on the verge of crying. She took up Maki’s offer to become stronger so that Yuji’s death wouldn’t be in vain.

While training to become stronger, she also came to admire Maki Zen’in. Maki is an incredibly skilled fighter and user of cursed tools. Nobara admires the way that she holds herself and carries on despite the oppression that she has from her own family.

Nobara likes to joke around with Yuji to try and get a rise out of Megumi when she can, but she also pretends that she doesn’t like them a lot as well. When she found out that Yuji was still alive, she demanded an apology from him for making her sad.

2. What are they most afraid of?

Nobara is most afraid of not staying true to herself and her duty as a Jujutsu sorceress. She said that she would always be true to herself and she will do that. When she was first tested by Gojo, she knew that she could let the child that had been taken hostage be killed by the cursed spirit that had grabbed him and then take it out, but she just couldn’t. So she dropped her hammer and nails, despite knowing that she could get killed for doing it.

She also wouldn’t retreat when she was ordered to do so during the Shibuya incident. She did what she could to Mahito’s double, knowing that it would hurt his true self. She didn’t care if she got herself hurt in the process. Her pride as a Jujutsu sorceress was ultimately her downfall, but she didn’t care. She wasn’t going to sit back and let others do what she knew that she could do herself.

3. What is their weakness? Emotionally, mentally and physically?

Nobara’s biggest weakness is her pride. She won’t back down from a fight if her pride is on the line. She holds a lot of pride in her abilities as a Jujutsu Sorceress and anyone insulting that automatically makes her furious. She makes fun of how Yuji knows so little about curses and cursed energy and she stands up for Maki when others from the Kyoto school talk bad about her. Her pride is what also caused her to be injured in the Shibuya Incident, leaving her fate unknown for now.

Nobara is also rather vain and takes a lot of pride in her looks. She dyes her hair a lighter color to try and be more fashionable and spends quite a bit of money on outfits so that she can keep up with the latest fashion trends in the big city. She also hopes to be scouted as a model someday. If anything happens to her clothes or hair she gets incredibly upset. She also knows that she is good looking and isn’t afraid to say it. She spends a lot of time and effort to keep looking good, so she doesn’t want anyone to mess with that.

Physically, Nobara is rather small, but her cursed energy use makes up for her lack of physical strength. She knows how to fight, but a lot of cursed spirits and other sorcerers are just physically bigger than she is. She still puts up as much of a fight as she can, but without her cursed energy she can’t do too much against a much larger opponent.

4. What would make them happiest?

Becoming a high level Jujutsu Sorceress would make Nobara happy, but really, what would make her happiest would be meeting with Saori and Fumi again. She made a promise to Fumi before she left the small village that she came from and she plans on keeping that promise. She doesn’t know when she would be able to keep that promise, but she doesn’t plan on breaking it.

She isn’t sure how she is going to be able to find Saori, but she is sure that she can get back in touch with Fumi because she probably still lives in the same small village that she comes from. She doesn’t know how long it will take her to find Saori, but she will do what she can to find her and hopefully reconnect.

5. What’s their type for a lover?

Nobara hasn’t expressed any interest in guys romantically, but she needs someone who can keep up with her. She has a pretty outgoing and loud personality, so she needs someone who can handle her taking charge when the situation calls for it.

She also needs someone who can afford to keep up with her shopping habits. She always wants to keep up with the latest fashions. As much as she might want him to pay, she’s able to pay for her own shopping, but she could always use some help carrying things.

Because Nobara constantly has to deal with cursed spirits and objects, she also needs someone who will stand beside her and fight with her. She doesn’t want to be protected by someone, her own cursed energy is pretty strong and she isn’t afraid to use it. She’s not a delicate flower that needs to be protected. Her pride won’t let her sit idly by and be protected by someone else.
